THE SEXY FISH 2012

The Sexy Fish has been around for a couple of years and has been eclipsed by the Little Zappa and the Bullet series so much so I felt pity for the design and decided to sex it up a little more. The original design was aimed at those who were basically fish heads who wanted more out of their fish than just trimming at high speeds with an arched spine and hair streaming in the breeze. Most fishes were twin fins which lacked drive so to compensate their rockers were very straight which impeded their freedom in the hollower parts of a wave and also restricted vertical moves. The Sexy is basically a quad (although this year it is a 5 finner) which has automatic speed : like all quads have, so I have given this fish a little more tail flip to free it up the face and allow it to fit a little more comfortably in hollow sections.


 The sexy has a forward hull similar to the Bullet series but without the chines and perhaps not so extreme in depth but still does the lifting as intended. The hull also gets you in a tad earlier.  A sudden short vee out the tail relieves the pressure of a 5 ml deep concave which runs out from the hull and through the belly of the board. The Sexy is not an extremely wide or thick board but is a good paddler none the less, sort of middle of the road in the volume category. This year I have slightly streamlined the nose and eased the tail flip back a little. The carbon tail has also become a standard as well as the rail spray which enhances it sexy little body.

Hey Murray,
just thought I would send you a quick Email, expressing my gratitude following recent Maldives Trip with the Sexy Fish that you shaped for me just prior to Xmas. Not only has it been a perfect board that suits the conditions up here, but it more than held its own in solid Point Lookout surf & was great in both wackable Jailbreaks’ walls & hollow Kandooma rights. After 30+ years of surfing, I thinks that this would have to be the best all round board that I have ridden. My journey has now come full circle ( from 1st Pipedream board in 1979), and is complete.  You are the  Yoda of design & the experience I had from when we first talked to delivery was “Jedi class” in Customer Service. Much appreciated.
